Coming Out Again

The view from the corner of Commercial and Washington St, Boston.

I am sitting on the corner of Commercial and Washington St in Boston, MA, writing to you. Yes; You.

After 3 plus years of retreating from my profession of playing music by moving to a remote piece of country outside of Austin, TX, I’m coming out again to reconnect, to play.

I am also allowing myself permission to write again.

There is an irony here because, well, I am just now finishing up an album that has almost, nearly, NO words.

As a singer, I was tired of singing words that didn’t express how I felt about today.

Today.

Like many of you, I sit in a mire of reality political news. It’s practically all of the information I receive, and all of the entertainment too.

I miss the days where all felt safe, or at least, democracy in our country felt safe.

(Yet another reason I write.) Where is our democracy?

I am writing an album that allows me to “see” through Freddy, a dog that lives with my son.

Freddy’s presence, while not calm, is authentic, and stays to his course of a life fully realized.

I can learn from this.

I have also always loved all living beings, including humans.

So, if you decide to write back. I will do my best to answer.

As Jeff writes, More to come.
